What I think of Lawyers

They exist only to defend whatever side they represent, weather it is plaintiff or defendant. They represent as if their side is the most righteous. It doesn’t seem like they choose to make correct moral ethical judgments at all times. They make money through a percentage, more of inscentive. The Idea of them making money at a non-flat rate and more on the % based may cause improper judgments on their part. It would be interesting to see, in the future, if they will work under the government for a hourly rate no more/less.
Lawyers come in handy for representation on something as minor as a traffic citation that needs to be taken care of in court. For example, if you got a traffic citation in another state and the citation requires you to be present on a certain court date. You may then hire a traffic lawyer to represent you. You would be communicating through the lawyer on the status of your traffic citation. If it wasn’t for the lawyer you would probably have to go back at the latter date to represent yourself.
I don’t think most lawyers make the correct moral judgment at all times. It is to their best interest to make money. And they will work harder for you depending on what their inscentive is rather then helping you on what your real problem is. They are experts in their own field and may keep the truth away from their clients depending on what their end compensation will be. They are not always truthful and honest on a situation. They are also highly persuasive because they know how the system works and it is to their own advantage to yield more money off a particular case. I strongly think they may work differently if they worked for you for a flat rate.

  1. I agree 100 percent with your thoughts about lawyers. Lawyers to me work conveniently to enhance their pockets and have minor interest in their client’s best interest. There is some exceptions depending on what kind of law is being practiced.
Lawyers are beneficial when you want to get something done. A defense lawyer is only working to benefit themselves and make the most money they can. Most of them don’t care about their clients or their benefits after the case is over. A lawyer can defend a guilty client knowing they are guilty but as long as the client’s have enough money the lawyer will fight for their guilty client’s innocents until they are proven innocent.
I think even if the government did enforce some kind of flat rate and try to “monitor morality” for lawyers, lawyers would still find ways of excepting “gifts” of some sort to influence their judgment.

  2. Keonia Angel’s blog on lawyers

I agree with a lot of things that Keonia said regarding lawyers such as they don’t morally represent well and they seem to not use good judgment. They do get payed a ridiculous amount of money though what they’re capable of saying or doing. They had mentioned that they’re not always truthful which I feel is accurate to say. I do agree that it does matter if it’s a plaintiff or defendant because it matters on the situation and what it details. Lawyers are there to make it smoother for you but they also can complicate things as well. I do agree that lawyers are great when it comes to traffic tickets because you don’t half to worry about points that are counted on your insurance. I know that I don’t want to pay a huge amount for a ticket and have points taken off and have a higher payment for my insurance.

  3. “They exist only to defend whatever side they represent, weather it is plaintiff or defendant.” They represent as if their side is the most righteous.” Very well said. Like you I have a similar view on lawyers and their ethics. It sure would be interesting to see how their attitudes would change if they were only paid for the time they actually worked (excluding the paralegals work) and not the percentage they will make. They find ways to stretch the truth to their advantage as well as their clients. But on the other hand greedy and unethical lawyers still are convenient when a need arises aren't they?!...
